our story
We’ve lived the in-between life. That’s why we design for it.

Atelier and was born from years of living and working across countries, cultures and systems.
Before founding the studio, we built our experience abroad, navigating different ways of designing, building and inhabiting space.
Moving between places taught us how deeply architecture is connected to everyday life, habits and personal rhythms.

lived experience is where every project begins

Having lived this condition ourselves, we understand the complexity of designing from a distance, unfamiliar rules, languages and processes included.

This experience allows us to approach each project with empathy, clarity and structure, turning complexity into a calm and transparent design process. Our work is guided by listening, dialogue and the ability to translate different lives into coherent and meaningful spaces.

Mario del Gaudio

Mario grew up near Caserta, in southern Italy. His first journey abroad was an Erasmus program in Paris, a first leap that would become a lasting way of life. He went on to live and work abroad for fifteen years, developing an international experience across a wide range of projects, from luxury villas and housing developments to museums, metro stations, schools, prisons and retail spaces.

That diversity led him to a clear conviction: architecture only works when it respects real life, habits, routines, culture, budgets and time. Understanding how people actually live, move and make decisions is what allows a project to remain grounded, coherent and truly functional over time.

Francesca Sorli

Francesca was born in Sanremo and studied in Turin, before her path took her abroad through experiences in Barcelona, Brasília and China. These formative years eventually led her to Paris, where she lived and worked for eight years, developing a solid international background. Her experience spans housing, timber construction and educational buildings, projects where structure, precision and everyday practicality are essential.

Working across different contexts shaped a careful and grounded approach to architecture, where technical clarity supports the quality of space. Her work brings together attention to materials, constructive logic and a quiet sensitivity to how spaces are lived in every day.

We met and worked together for four years at the French architecture studio Archi5. In 2022, we moved to Turin to establish our own practice, while continuing to work between Italy and France, bringing with us a European design culture rooted in clarity, planning and precision, combined with a deep, hands-on knowledge of Italian buildings, contractors and craftsmanship.

it’s not about distance,
it’s about staying close

Today, we design for people who are changing country or living across multiple places.
Having experienced this transition ourselves, we understand what it means to navigate unfamiliar systems, new rules and the challenge of designing a home from a distance.

Our approach combines empathy, structure and clear communication, turning movement into a reliable, transparent and well-controlled design process.

what we stand for
A few simple principles that turn complexity into clarity and make projects more personal.
Clarity over confusion

You always know what’s happening, what we’re doing and why.

Clear phases, structured updates and shared documents make decisions easier and keep the process transparent at every stage. This approach brings order to complexity and keeps the project aligned.

Empathy for people on the move

Relocation brings uncertainty, stress and unfamiliar systems.

We’ve lived it ourselves, across different countries and cultures. That experience allows us to support our clients with empathy, helping them feel understood, confident and supported, even from a distance.

Architecture that fits real lives

We design to improve everyday life, not abstract ideas.

Our work focuses on how spaces feel, function and support real people in their daily routines. Every project is different because every client is different, architecture only works when it fits the lives of the people who inhabit it.

what makes us different
Why clients choose us and continue to work with us
every home should
feel like the people
who live in it

We don’t start from a predefined style or language.
We begin by understanding how you live, your habits, routines, work, travels and relationship with space. Architecture becomes personal when it grows from real life, not from repetition.

Architecture has to fit with people.
when life happens in more than one place

Many of our clients live and work across cities or countries. Our way of working is designed for this condition, allowing projects to move forward smoothly even when clients are not physically present. Distance becomes part of the process, not an obstacle to it.

We are remote-friendly, not remote
where experiences
come together

Our work brings together a European design culture shaped by different places and experiences with a deep understanding of local buildings, regulations and construction practices.

This layered perspective allows us to move naturally between concept and execution, ensuring that ideas remain coherent, feasible and well built.

Internationa mindset, italian taste.
where we work
Based across places, present where it matters, following the project closely, wherever it takes place.
a home that carries who you are, wherever you go

We are based between Paris and Turin and work internationally, often alongside clients whose lives move between cities or countries. Living abroad and working across different contexts has made collaboration beyond borders a natural part of our practice.

Our presence is structured around each project, adapting to its location while remaining consistent in approach, care and coordination.

Wherever your project is, what matters is
the right way of working together.
Distance stops being a problem when there is a system.

Reliability is often associated with constant physical presence. In our experience, it comes from a clear process, a shared rhythm, and accountability — allowing decisions to stay clear and projects to move forward smoothly.

you don’t lose control. You gain clarity

Our workflow built on :

  • scheduled on-site visits
  • photo and video reports
  • clear decision documents
  • shared timelines and priorities
  • structured, consistentcommunication
your next chapter, designed with clarity

If you’re relocating, investing in a second home, or managing a renovation from abroad, we help you make confident decisions and create a home that truly fits the way you live.

No obligation. Just a clear first conversation to understand if we’re a fit.
We have no home doesn’t mean we have no phone.
